Introducing Dr. Bill Hebda

Introducing Dr. William (Bill) Hebda

William (Bill) Hebda, M.D. joins our medical staff at the Riverwood Office to improve patient access to care in this growing area. He attended Oral Roberts University School of Medicine in Tulsa, OK and completed his residency at the Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC. Dr. Hebda served as a U.S. Navy Doctor in Sicily during Operation Desert Storm.

Dr. Hebda grew up near Pittsburgh, PA and is still an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan (We won’t hold that against him here in Panther country). He met his wife, Debbie, during college and has been married to her since medical school. They have been blessed with four children.

He chose family medicine because he values long term relationships with patients and all-inclusive care. He appreciates the privilege of getting to know his patients and take care of them for many years. He appreciates the variety that family medicine offers, caring for people of all ages with a wide range of medical needs.

To get to know him a little better, we asked Dr. Hebda a few questions.

What was your first job?

I was a paper boy in Uniontown, PA. (Do they even have paperboys anymore?)

Why did you choose to settle in North Carolina?

I feel like North Carolina, especially this area, has so much to offer — the mild temperatures, the mountains and the beaches. The Triangle Area is brimming with great research, technology, sports, educational opportunities and diverse people. It really is a great place to live.

When you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?

Take a walk with my wife, text my kids (some are grown and have homes of their own), or listen to my favorite comedian, Brian Regan, with my son and laugh.

What’s the #1 most played song on your playlist?

That would be a toss up between Mumford & Sons’ “I Will Wait,” and Phil Wickham’s “Amazing Grace.”

If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?

Gandalf, from Lord of the Rings.

What do you miss most about being a kid?

There were lots of kids in my neighborhood growing up. We played kickball, wiffleball, basketball — really, any kind of ball — right there in the neighborhood. I miss that.

Would you rather: wash dishes, mow the lawn, vacuum the house or clean the toilet?

Any other options? Please?

Rollercoasters: Love them or hate them?

Ha! That’s a love-hate relationship! I love the speed and hate the turns.

Finally, with Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, what’s the one thing you’ll eat until you’re stuffed?

My wife is a fabulous cook. She makes apple squares every Thanksgiving and I could live on (but I try not to). They’re amazing!

Dr. Hebda is accepting new patients. If Horizon Family Medicine is one of your insurance plan’s approved providers, he would like to be your doctor. For office location, phone number and hours, click here. To schedule an appointment, call the office at 919-359-6016.
