A PA for over 23 years, Joanna has practiced in multiple specialties but has chosen to focus in psychiatric medication management for the last 7 years, providing personalized care for children as young as 6 and adults. She has broad experience that includes providing psychiatric medication management for those with eating disorders in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Joanna is adept at treating various psychiatric illnesses including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, sleep disorders, attention deficit disorders, anger issues, eating disorders, schizophrenia, and oppositional defiant disorder. Joanna also treats psychiatric comorbidities of Alzheimer’s patients. With her goal being to help her patients feel good about themselves and their lives, Joanna prescribes and manages the best medications for each of her patients based on their individual needs. Patients find Joanna is an expert listener with a gentle and caring demeanor allowing them to feel comfortable talking and opening up. Originally from NY, Joanna, her husband and their three sons, have lived in Charlotte for 15 years. She received her formal education in New York at Syracuse University and Pace University PA Program.

Mary Marshall holds dual licenses as a Professional Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. She has been in the mental health and substance abuse fields since graduating from The Johns Hopkins University in 2010 and has extensive experience providing supportive and empathetic counseling to a broad spectrum of clients ages 13 and up. Mary Marshall specializes in treating substance abuse disorders, mood disorders, and trauma by providing group and individual therapies. In her free time, she enjoys spending time being active with her family, cooking, gardening and traveling.

Amy, a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, graduated from Webster University in 2010. She has gained extensive experience providing strength-based support to teens and adults in a variety of mental health settings with issues ranging from everyday life struggles to serious mental illness. Amy firmly believes in the dignity and worth of all, enjoys working with those, ages 13 and up, from all cultural and racial backgrounds as well as the LGBTQ+ community. Her areas of specialty include stress management, grief/loss, chronic disease management, gender identity, communication, and self-esteem issues. She values time with family and friends.

Tamikka is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who graduated in 2011 with a Master’s degree in Social Work from UNC-Pembroke. She was awarded the Sim White Award for outstanding leadership and service, the catalyst to pursue and successfully defend a doctoral degree in Higher Education Executive Leadership from Wingate University in 2017. Tamikka has extensive experience in numerous enhanced mental health services as well as being an outpatient telehealth provider. Her professional background includes working with the military, children and adolescents, and adults of all ages. Tamikka specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, stress, and life transitions to name a few. Along with her clinical experience, Tamikka serves as a copy editor of an academic journal. In her spare time, Tamikka enjoys community service, reading, binge watching 90 sitcoms, HITT, and going on excursions with her active toddler.

Brittany has over 11 years of experience as a professional counselor providing therapy and looks forward to working with you as you navigate through this season of life. She enjoys working with individuals to address and remove barriers that hinder them from operating at their fullest capacity and reaching their full potential. Passionate about assisting individuals with moving through life’s obstacles and combating cognitive distortions, Brittany helps build resilience, confidence, and hope. Her goal is to provide compassion and empathy during sessions with a mission to provide an authentic, non-judgmental and client-centered approach. Brittany’s experience includes working with adults of various ages, children, adolescents, and couples as well as families. She utilizes interventions that stem from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy as well as other treatment modalities that are specific to the needs of her clients. In her spare time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family, watching television shows, and traveling. She is also certified as a personal trainer and likes working out.

Tonya is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) who earned her Master’s degree in counseling from Liberty University in 2012. She gained a wealth of experience and honed her mental health skills through servitude within various mental health settings such as crisis services, corporate management, psychiatric hospitalization, and private practice (telehealth only). With a professional background including working with adolescents (13+) and adults of all ages, she specializes in treating a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief/loss, stress, stagnation, and life transitions. Beyond her clinical practice, Tonya spends her spare time enjoying her three grandchildren, indulging in a delightful book, or exploring something new to do to keep life exciting. Matt is a graduate of William Carey University and is a seasoned counselor with nearly 20 years of being in professional practice. He is experienced in providing evidence-based therapy to individuals and families. Having earned a Master of Science in Child/Adolescent Counseling and a certification in Gerontology, his practice ranges from children to elderly care. Matt’s career path includes having been a substitute teacher, therapist and training coordinator for Intensive In-Home and Out-Patient care. He is extremely proficient in building rapports and assisting his clients with unique, patient centered behavioral modification techniques. He is also able to provide help to those who are struggling with money management, activities of daily living, interpersonal relationships, sexual health, educational attainment goals, chemical dependency, loss, depression, anxiety and more. He also has had the honor to work with veterans. Having been part of WakeMed’s Tobacco Cessation Program, Matt is able to provide comprehensive, multi-disciplinary support to those looking to quit tobacco for good. Matt truly enjoys partnering with his clients and assisting them in achieving their behavioral health goals! When not working, Matt is a self-identified foodie, loves to absorb culture, and travel when possible.
