Introducing Dr. Jackie McGill
Jackie McGill, M.D. joined the medical staff at the Clayton Office to better serve our patients in this growing area. Dr. McGill got her medical degree from Wake Forest and completed her residency training in family medicine, including pediatrics and OB, at Moses Cone Family Medicine in Greensboro.
Of course, there’s more to Dr. McGill than treating patients and delivering babies. In fact, she is recently engaged. Wedding bells will ring for her and fiance, Paul, in early 2015. She and Paul also adopted a German Shepard mix puppy, Tikka, who wandered into the clinic on her last day of residency. It’s a good thing they were already looking for one.
To get to know her a little better, we asked Dr. McGill a few questions…
What was your first job?
My dad has always owned his own businesses, so technically I’m sure it was stuffing envelopes or something for him. My first legit job was working at the pool in the concessions stand in the summers.
Why did you choose North Carolina?
I’m from Maryland, and I love the east coast. I love having the beach and mountains nearby. Also, it’s a great state for family medicine, one of the few on the east coast where you can do your own OB.
When you have 30 minutes of free time, what do you do?
That depends on my mood! Sometimes I work out or take Tikka for a walk. Sometimes, I bake — and eat!
If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to? Why?
Anything shorter than Jacquelyn. That was horrible trying to learn to spell in kindergarten! (We found a few other tough ones: Araminta, Christabel, Evangeline, Philomena and Seraphinia to name a few!)
What’s the #1 most played song on your playlist?
Ooh,this is a tough one because I’ve just been listening to the radio. It definitely would be something country, probably either “Crazy Girl” (Eli Young Band) or “I Don’t Dance” (Lee Brice), because we are debating on which we want for our first dance at our wedding.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
Hmmmmm… maybe Belle from “Beauty and the Beast,” because she was one of the smart Disney Princess characters and was able to see past superficial stuff. To be honest, I haven’t had much time for fiction these past few years.
What do you miss most about being a kid?
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
A lot! Although, there’s only ten or so that are regularly in the rotation.
Last but not least, rollercoasters: love them or hate them?
